| Fairview Health Services is seeking a part time RN for the Emergency Room located at the University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus. This position will be working 48 hours every two weeks on the night shift, 8-hour shifts, and every other weekend. The position is benefit eligible. - 19 beds in the main section and 7 beds in section two.
- Provides care to 30,000 patients annually, average 80 daily.
- 50% of patients are mental health.
- Multidisciplinary approach to all emergencies.
- Care delivery team: Board Certified/Eligible ED physicians, RNs, ER Techs, Health Unit Coordinators, Psych Associates, 4-5 patients per RN.
The scope of practice extends from a patient’s entry into the emergency room, and continues from triage through discharge. Care is centered on patients and families experiencing acute or chronic, actual or potential physical or psychosocial problems. Unique to emergency nursing are processes that require resuscitation and/or stabilization. - Provide care to all ages and acuity of patients that seek medical care. Some unique patient populations include pediatrics, sexual assault survivors, psychiatric, trauma, solid organ and blood and marrow transplant, substance abuse.
- Safely employs (sets-up, utilizes and trouble shoots) the following monitoring devices;
- Arterial lines
- Cardiac Monitoring
- EKGs
- EtCO2
- Doppler
- Manages complex medication and infusion therapies
- Care for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
- Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment.

- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and PALS certification within one year of hire.
- 6 months of Med Surg experience required.
Preferred Qualifications: - 1 year of Emergency Department, peds or critical care experience
- BSN.
- Certification by the Emergency Nurses Association (CEN) and/or course in advanced trauma nursing (CATN).
