University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital is located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. We provide a broad range of pediatric programs from surgery, imaging and neonatal and pediatric intensive care to cardiac and oncology (cancer care) services and blood and marrow and organ transplantation.
Our clinical staff apply innovative approaches to creating medical breakthroughs based their work with patients and on findings through research at the University of Minnesota. This has led to several firsts, including the first successful pediatric blood marrow transplant, infant heart transplant in Minnesota and cochlear ear implant surgery for a child.

Nursing Station Technicians- Support the work of the RN to provide exceptional care to our patients and families. The NST floats to all areas of the pediatric hospital including critical care, transplant, oncology, and cardiology. The pediatric float pool NST also functions in the role of a flyer and performs the EKGs ordered on the west bank along with holter monitor placement and responds to the needs of individual units.
This position will be working 40 hours every two weeks on the night shift, 8 hour shifts and every other weekend. The position is eligible for benefits
The Nursing Station Technician is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties.
In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include:
Patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding
Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering tests
Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
Ordering and stocking of supplies
Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire with the following exceptions:
If the applicant is currently enrolled in an RN program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program or If the applicant is a current Fairview employee, this requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
