St. Jude is looking to hire either a level I, II, or lII Child Life Specialist. The Child Life Specialist will assess the emotional, developmental, educational, and diversionary needs of hospitalized children and coordinate therapeutic interventions to address the medical, procedural, surgical, and diagnostic experiences of patients and families. This role will plan and implement programs and services to meet the needs identified for the assigned clinical population and the child life department. In this position, you will also promote and practice the delivery of high-quality family-centered care and services for patients and families.
Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Child Life, Psychology, or a related field required
Professional child life experience in a hospital environment is strongly preferred
Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential from the Child Life Council must be obtained within 12 months of hire and maintained thereafter
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Child Life Specialist I:
Completion of a child life professional internship with one year of experience working with children required
Child Life Specialist II:
Three (3) years as a full-time Certified Child Life Specialist or two (2) years full-time experience with a Master’s degree
Child Life Specialist III:
Five (5) years of experience as a full-time Certified Child Life Specialist or four (4) years full-time with a Master’s degree
